Bring on 2026 !
Most exciting New Year's Eve ever
Wishing you all a lovely Christmas/ holiday period. I’m all set for an unforgettable New Year’s Eve, having a heart operation in Lyon (repair or replacement of two valves) ! Many thanks for all your good wishes and messages of support. It has helped to hear what a good reputation this op has.
When I get the wobbles, I have 3 battle cries and a dear friend has just found a 4th for me, which is my current favourite. So if you want to join me (virtually) take your pick!
CURRENT FAVOURITE
– Creag an Sgairbh! (For Cormorant’s Rock!) The Scots battle cry of Clan Stewart of Appin as their hold Stalker’s Castle is built on Cormorant Rock. If you know my Viking novels, you know how important the cormorant is, so this is perfect! And I’m pronouncing it ‘Craig an Skarv’ as there are regional variations!
But my other 3 work for me too.
– Shieldwall! (Gets all your friends around you quickly!)
– Cofiwch Gwenllian! (Welsh – Remember Gwenllian!) Gwenllian was a warrior princess in the 12th century, not forgotten.
– Hauts les coeurs! (French – Hearts high! ) The mayor of our little village signed off every newsletter with this during the Covid years and it’s a lovely expression of solidarity and courage.
