The politics of lipstick

Writers' responses to my photo

It’s very moving for someone who’s a writer AND a photographer to see such high quality writing, from so many writers, in response to one of my photos. I created the image in response to a brief from a book publisher, wanting objects that represented sisters, who were different, and when I looked around at my houseful of inspirational items (aka junk) I was drawn to these new lipsticks (consequence of being alone in an airport a few days earlier) . Lipsticks, lace, old-fashioned mirror and reflection: femininity with a certain defiance in the angle. I am overwhelmed at the range and quality of responses – writing to treasure. Thank you, all those who responded. And thanks to The Curved House who publish Visual Verse. Check out ‘my’ edition here.
